Crematory
Live Insurrection
September 2017
Released: 2017, SPV
Rating: 4.0/5
Reviewer: John Haseltine

Recorded live at Germany’s 2016 Bang You Head festival, the long running gothic / death metal act Crematory offer up LIVE INSURRECTION. Fans can rejoice as this is a great sounding live recording.

Crematory has been nothing but steady and consistent throughout the years. It may bug some music critics and fans alike, but the way I see it, if you find a formula that works, work it! I looked in my catalog and could not find any of their studio albums. I know I have one. I have always enjoyed their blend of metal. This release does come with a CD and DVD. I have gotten to review several of these types of releases, but never get the DVD. Or even a link to it. I am sure it would come off just as good as the music. There are not too many bands that record a DVD that released one that isn’t any good. LIVE INSURRECTION consists of 17 tracks which clocks in at just about 75 minutes. From what I can tell, and I’m no expert on Crematory, but it looks as if the show consists mainly of tracks from 2014’s ANTISERUM and 2016’s MONUMENT.

Crematory fans will not be disappointed. And for the rest of you, if you have ever been Crematory curious, this is your chance to listen to a good blend of their songs as well as being to hear what they are actually all about in a live setting.
