German Metal band Odium are back for their 25th anniversary, and what is a better way to celebrate it than with a new record? After their last album in 2014 titled "The Science Of Dying", this year comes "As the World Turns Black". As this being their 10th release, and 8th LP, this could be the highlight of their career.
The album features 9 tracks, distributed by Black Sunset, and it was mixed by Martin Buchwalter. As once said that Odium is the best that German underground can have, I give it a very hard 4. The reason behind it is because in the first few tracks, the vocal seems kinda off. The mix of the instruments are all in place, but the vocal seems not in tune with the instruments. As the album proceeds to its later tracks, it sounds just as it should, but since We all get the first impression at the just beginning, this is a little remark that I saw.
The riffs and solos in the songs are pure amusement, from the very beginning to the very end. For me, "Inside the Incubus" is the very best of them all. As the last song the rhythm starts a little slower making your head go forward and back, but then evolves into a pure thrash song.
The hook from the solo guitar is just ear dropping, it blends in just perfect. After the second riff, the first part of the solo is a outstanding little shred, the second parts kicks in faster and then slowly fades into the song.
The ending is kinda unexpected, it just ends in a mere second, leaving you with the wish of more and more. So in my opinion, you should definitively listen to this album.
